It’s no secret that bold, eye-catching colors grab more attention and encourage more sales than drab merchandise. The many colors and styles of Bloem pots and baskets are a great example.

Joe DiDominica, co-owner of The Dees’ Nursery & Florist in Oceanside, N.Y., says he relies on nearly the entire line of Bloem accessories, hanging baskets, window boxes and other planters at his retail operation. The watering cans and railing planters by Bloem are particularly strong sellers.

Railing planters are especially popular in DiDominica’s market due to a high percentage of urban and patio gardeners in the area.

“I’ve gotten a lot of great feedback from the customers, just in [Bloem’s] railing planters alone,” he says. “Obviously [Bloem has] a lot of standard pots in a range of colors but they also have a really great selection of railing planters that are very popular around me because so many people have decks in their backyards. They just fit perfectly over the deck railings. That’s been a great seller for us all season and this is the first time I’ve ever had them from [Bloem].”

Part of the strong sales, DiDominica says, is the floor appeal that Bloem products have in his store. With their vibrant hues and inventive merchandising designs, Bloem makes an immediate impression on customers at The Dees’ Nursery & Florist.

“Of course, the colors definitely attract people,” DiDominica says. “Crazy, bright colors that are really attractive to people and the displays [Bloem] gave me are just the icing on the cake. They are eye-catching, people are drawn to them. It is one of the best, if not the best display, I’ve ever gotten from a manufacturer.”

Though DiDominica has had a solid buying partnership with Bloem for several years, making the decision to expand his planter section with a Bloem-designed merchandising display boosted his sales and cemented the company as a reliable supplier.

“I’ve always gotten along with those guys,” he says. “This just made our relationship even stronger.”
