Take a closer look at the COVID-19 sales boom with data analyzed by Breck’s, the largest U.S. importer of Dutch flower bulbs.
As Americans turned to gardening for solace in the wake of the pandemic, garden centers saw a boost like none other. With customers flocking to their backyards and finding peace in greenery, retail IGCs posed their businesses for growth and successfully adapted to the frenzy of new customers. To take a closer look at the sales boom, Breck’s, the largest U.S. importer of Dutch flower bulbs, analyzed monthly sales revenue of 35 different retail sectors using the U.S. Census Monthly Retail Trade Report from March through May 2019. To do this, Breck’s compared it with revenue from March through May 2020 to see which retail sectors were impacted the most. They presented it in a blog post titled, “The Rise in Gardening Retail During COVID-19.” Here are some of the results from their findings:
